“I would definitely go back.”

What I drank: a breve latte with whole milk — served in a to-go cup worth keeping; the artwork on it is tremendous. The room takes a perfect score on the strength of its setting: a sleek roastery folded into the leather shop next door, the kind of room that makes you slow down before you get back on the road.

  • BeansRoasts in-house, bags to go — none came home this time.
  • MerchNone at the roaster — the hat came from the leather shop next door.
  • Known forAn ambitious bean list — Gesha, Pink Bourbon, Sidra.

The street's number: 4.7 ★ on Google (78 reviews). Mine agrees.

“I can still taste the strength of the espresso.”

What I drank: a cortado — equal parts espresso and steamed milk, which means nowhere for a weak shot to hide. The espresso stood up through the milk and stayed with me after the cup was done. One caveat, stated in the open: Laramie was a breve latte, so this is roaster to roaster, not cup to cup — but a cortado is the harder drink to fake, and if the espresso runs this strong, their breve latte is a safe bet to be good. The room is quaint and simple, nothing extravagant: limited seating inside, a table or two outside, and the mountains around Provo doing the decorating — tough to beat. Exactly what you imagine walking into when you want a great cup of coffee. The overall splits the difference between cup and room, with the outdoor setting counted as a third leg: 4.675 on the nose, 4.68 on the card.

  • BeansRoasts in-house — none came home this time.
  • MerchNone to be seen — everything here goes into the cup.
  • The cupPlain white, no artwork. Forgiven — the taste did the talking.

The street's number: 4.9 ★ on Google (174 reviews). Mine sides with it — on the cup, this is the best drink of the series so far.

Incidental takes the cup; Range keeps the room and the overall. The benchmark defends its crown by a hair — and the rematch writes itself.

How a stop is scored

Every score out of 5

The Cup

The drink itself — what was ordered, how it was made, whether it earns a second one.

The Room

The place as a place: light, noise, craft, and whether the road feels far away for a minute.

The Overall

The honest average of the two, plus the only question that matters — would I go back?
